Tracker

This is my groups opening sequence, we have called it "Tracker" because the male antagonist is being tracked by the female protagonist. We changed the stereotypical male driven action film to show people that it works just a well with a female playing the assassin. To make sure our opening sequence looks as genuine as possible we added white titles on black backgrounds, much like the opening sequence to "Se7en" We added in a soundtrack instead of dialogue to add to the tension.

Evaluation

Media evaluation
Below are my answers to the 7 Evaluation questions. I have done one as a power point presentation, three as video interviews, one as a pod cast, one as a timeline and one as a Vlog

Production meeting 8

Production meeting 8

In this meeting we put together all and edited of the shots that we had filmed. We edited using Serif Movieplus, we did this so we could see what we had so far what we could do to improve our opening sequence. This was just a rough first edit so we put the shots together and left black screens that lasted about 2-3 seconds between each scene to see if our idea of having an action shot then a black screen with white titles on looked good after this we added a few titles to see how long it took us to read them, it roughly took around 3 seconds but because my group knew what the titles were going to say we could read them faster so we enlisted the help of a few classmates and they asked us to up the time to 4 seconds which was perfect.

Research websites

In our lesson today we looked at useful websites to use for research, we did this in order to discover films that are similar to what we want our opening scenes to look like.

Movieclips

Movieclips is a website that allows people to look up films and choose clips that they can watch for free. It's a really useful website for media students because we can analyse specific parts of films. Movieclips is a trusted website which won't supply us with false clips or bad quality clips, it also has a section which allows you to look up directors and actors as well. Movieclips has a huge multitude of film clips, actors and directors from a range of different times therefore failing to find a clip you want would be very difficult.

Art of the Title

The second website we looked at was Art of the Title which is similar to Movieclips but specialises in Title sequences. This was especially helpful to us because we could analyse different opening sequences and apply things we'd seen in them to ours. Art of the Title doesn't just have movie opening sequences but television show opening sequences as well.

Youtube

The last website we looked at was Youtube. Using this website we could search from an even wider database of clips, although there is so much more you often get results that aren't what you wanted so you have to be very specific with what you search for. Because anyone can upload videos to Youtube we also found it useful to look at other media pupils previous opening sequences to see what looks good and what doesn't.

Having all of these websites for research will be incredibly useful to help us make the best opening sequence that we can.

Opening scene clips.

Here are a few clips that we have filmed, these ones are of our female antagonist (Bryony Ward.) The clip below is of the antagonist putting on lipstick, and then giving a sly smile towards the end, we did this to give a creepy effect to the scene because later on we will understand that she knows whats going to happen, even though the audience does not know yet.

This clip is of the female antagonist waking up. I really like the effect we get from her eyes flickering before opening them because it almost looks as if she is having a dream which is causing her eyes to dart around which conveys a sense of urgency. I also really like how when she opens her eyes her pupils dilate which is realistic because that is what happenes when you wake up therefore it seems as if she really has been asleep

Production meeting 7

In this meeting we decided to draw up a timeline that has all of our titles and shots on to help us determine the timings and to help us keep to the time limit that we have.

Production meeting 6

Production meeting 6

This productoin meeting was about changing our opening sequence, after talking to Mr.Buckmaster realised we each had different ideas of what we wanted to do so we spoke to eachother and discussed ideas that could fit together. We finally decided on having a male protagonist and a female antagonist, we chose this because it is against the norm, and not something that is usually done, it allows us to have the action opening we wanted as well as the psychological edge to it. The characters will have a fight and the female will end up pulling a gun out on the male, it will cut to black with our film title on it and then the sound of a gun shot will be heard.
